Billy Joe "BJ" Wrenchly
On-Set Mechanic
Biography
Billy Joe "BJ" Wrenchly was born and raised in Marceline, Missouri, where hard work, helping your neighbors, and figuring things out for yourself were simply a way of life. From an early age, BJ displayed an unusual fascination with anything powered by an engine. If it had wheels, gears, belts, or made an interesting noise, chances were he wanted to know exactly how it worked.
That curiosity became legendary when, as a young boy, BJ's father purchased a brand-new riding lawn mower. Less than a week later, BJ had completely disassembled it inside the family barn. When his father walked in and found hundreds of parts spread across the floor, he didn't yell or lose his temper. He simply looked at his son and said, "Well, son... you tore it apart. Now put it back together. It better run when you're done."
It did.
That moment would shape BJ for the rest of his life. Every broken engine became a puzzle, every strange noise a challenge, and every repair an opportunity to learn something new.
Over the years, BJ became the person friends, neighbors, and complete strangers called whenever something refused to run. Whether it was a tractor that wouldn't start, a truck making an odd rattle, or an old lawn mower everyone else had given up on, BJ approached every problem with patience, determination, and an unwavering belief that almost anything could be fixed.
He never met a roadside item he didn't think deserved a second chance, and his family has long accepted that a "quick stop" on the way home might involve loading a discarded lawn mower, pressure washer, or mysterious piece of equipment into the truck because, in BJ's words, "I can fix it and resell it." His daily visits to Facebook Marketplace have become less of a hobby and more of a routine, while Harbor Freight employees have reportedly stopped asking whether he needs help finding anything.
When Bullderos Studios found itself facing a series of mechanical failures that threatened production, BJ arrived carrying an overstuffed toolbox, a pocket flashlight that somehow solved every problem, and what witnesses later described as "an alarming number of zip ties." By the end of the day, the equipment was running, filming had resumed, and Antonio
Bullderos unknowingly approved BJ's hiring paperwork while searching for the snack table.
Today, BJ serves as the On-Set Mechanic for Bullderos Studios, keeping everything from cameras and generators to studio equipment operating through equal parts experience, ingenuity, and sheer determination. Although his methods occasionally leave engineers scratching their heads, nobody argues with the results.
Known for his backwards ball cap, constant singing, unmistakable vocabulary, and willingness to help anyone in need, BJ has become one of the most dependable and beloved members of the Bullderos family. He may never claim to know everything, but he'll almost always say the same thing before rolling up his sleeves...
"Well... that ain't right."
